The Wayne Rooney Coca Cola Advertisement


 Coca Cola, one the world’s leading soft drink companies, is a huge consumer product throughout the world. But not the Smartest ... or is it? Some of ways how Coca Cola, also called Coke, is advertised to the society in a way that has nothing to do with the product. For example, the most popular and successful campaign by Coca Cola was the Wayne Rooney Coca Cola Advertisement. In this ad, a bunch of cleaners are cleaning up the street and trash cans when they find a soccer ball on the street, and seeing that soccer culture is very popular with the youth in England, they start playing freestyle soccer on the street, and accidently hit a cop car, and the cop also joins into their game and throughout the game, the people are trying to score the ball into a trash can. When the ad ends, it states "Send us your best Bins-shot and win a kick-about with Wayne Rooney". This was a very successful campaign because it was very viewer interactive. The Coco Cola company got a whooping 2.4 million videos in response for the advertisement. But seriously, what has soccer got to do anything with Coca-Cola. Is it trying to say that, every soccer match has to be accompanied with a soft drink like coke. 





   I mean seriously, how does coke relate to soccer? It is the advertising minds which are very smart. They use the technique of popular culture to promote their products. Here, using soccer, very popular with the England youth, the company is targeting the youth in several ways: firstly, using soccer as a popular sport amongst the young lads, secondly, the chance to meet an iconic football player.
